The study of several million inventions over hundreds of years has shown that technical systems evolve according to objective laws. These laws help to identify the state of system maturity to enable better anticipation of its evolution. Statistically, a design conform to these laws has a better chance of being pertinent.
The « Technology Forecasting » course comprises three modules: multiple screen analysis, S curve and the laws of evolution. These are part of the TRIZ methodology, which is aimed at systematising innovation.
Multi-screen analysis enables analysis of a system and its evolution (present, past), taking into account the environment in order to predict its future.
The S curve enables positioning of a product in its lifecycle. This enables determines whether it is best to opt for an improvement of what already exists or if it would be better to prepare for a technological leap.
